Mr SHAKTIKANTA DAS, THE MAN BEHIND GST AND NOTE BAN, STEPS IN AS THE NEW RBI GOVERNOR
The government, on December 11, 2018, appointed Mr Shaktikanta Das as the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor after Mr Urjit Patel stepped down from his post. He is the 25th Governor of the RBI. A former economic affairs secretary from 2015 to 2017, Mr Das has rendered his services closely with the Central Bank. He is currently a member of the Finance Commission of India and the government’s representative at the Group of 20 (G20) Summits.
